Cookie Policy
This site uses as little client-side storage as possible. The calculator itself uses local storage rather than cookies, and no advertising cookie is set until you allow it. This page lists everything, so you can see precisely what accepting or declining changes.
Cookies and local storage are not the same thing
Both store data in your browser, but they behave differently, and the distinction matters here:
- Cookies are sent to a server with every request, which is what makes them useful for tracking across pages and sites.
- Local storage stays on your device and is only read by JavaScript running on this site. It is never transmitted anywhere.
The calculator uses local storage only. Cookies appear on this site solely as a result of third-party advertising, and only if you consent to it.
Essential — always active
These are strictly necessary to deliver the functionality you asked for, so they do not require consent. All are local storage entries, not cookies.

Advertising — cookies and personalisation off by default
Google requires its AdSense code to be readable in the page itself, so that script is present in the <head> of every page on the site and loads for everyone. What it is permitted to do is a separate question, and that is governed by your choice: until you accept advertising, we send Google a Consent Mode signal that denies ad storage, ad user data and ad personalisation, so no advertising cookie is set and nothing is tailored to you. Once you accept, Google may set cookies and process data to serve, cap, personalise and measure ads. Those cookies are set on Google domains and are controlled by Google, not by us. Their names and lifetimes are set by Google and can change; the current list is maintained in Google's advertising cookies documentation.
Two things are worth being explicit about:
- No advertising cookie is set before you consent. The script loads, because Google cannot verify the site or place ads otherwise, but it runs under a denied consent signal until you accept, so it stores nothing on your device and builds no profile of you.
- Declining does not switch the script off, it switches the tracking off. You may still be shown an ad, but it is chosen without any profile of you and leaves no cookie behind. Requesting the script does reveal your IP address to Google, as loading any file from another domain would.
Analytics — optional, off by default
The consent banner offers an analytics category for anonymous, aggregated measurement of which pages are read. Your calculator inputs are never included. Nothing loads unless you opt in.
Changing your mind
You can change your choices at any time and the change takes effect immediately for anything loaded afterwards.
To remove data already stored, clear cookies and site data for this site in your browser settings. That deletes both the advertising cookies and the calculator's local storage, resetting the tool to its defaults.
You can also control ad personalisation across Google services at My Ad Center, independently of the choice you make here.
Browser-level controls
All major browsers let you block or delete cookies, and most offer a setting for blocking third-party cookies specifically. Blocking cookies entirely will not break this site: the calculator does not depend on them.
