Privacy Policy

Last updated 5 September 2026

Irish Money Clock is built to work without collecting personal data. The calculator runs entirely in your browser and your salary details are never sent to us. This policy explains exactly what is stored, what is not, and what happens if you accept optional cookies.

Who is responsible

This site is operated by the individual publisher of Irish Money Clock, based in Ireland, acting as data controller for the limited processing described below. Contact: irishmoneyclock@gmail.com.

This policy is written to meet the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Irish Data Protection Act 2018, and the ePrivacy Regulations 2011 governing cookies and similar technologies.

What we never collect

This is the most important section, so it comes first:

What is stored on your device

The site uses your browser's local storage — not cookies — to remember your own settings between visits. This data stays on your device and is readable only by this site.

Local storage used by this site
KeyPurposeRetention
imc_salary, imc_period, imc_hours, imc_pensionPctRemembers your calculator inputs so you do not re-enter themUntil you clear your browser storage
imc_in, imc_outKeeps a running clock going if you reload the pageUntil you clock out or clear storage
imc_consentRecords your cookie choices so you are not asked repeatedlyUntil you clear storage or change your preferences

Essential storage is used on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing a working calculator, and because it is strictly necessary to deliver the functionality you requested. You can remove all of it at any time by clearing site data in your browser settings, which resets the calculator to its defaults.

Optional cookies and third parties

Two optional categories are available through the consent banner, and both are off until you turn them on. Your consent is the legal basis for each.

Advertising — Google AdSense

Google AdSense is present in the code of every page on this site, because Google requires its tag to be readable in the page in order to verify the site and serve ads at all. Until you accept advertising cookies, we send Google a Consent Mode v2 signal denying ad storage, ad user data and ad personalisation, so no advertising cookie is set and no profile of you is used. If you accept, Google may set cookies and process data including your IP address, device and browser information, and interactions with ads, in order to serve, personalise and measure advertising. Google acts as an independent controller for this processing.

Because the script is requested from Google on every page, your IP address is visible to Google as a technical necessity of that request, in the same way it would be for any file loaded from another domain. Declining advertising cookies means nothing is stored on your device and nothing is personalised: any ad shown is chosen without reference to you.

For details of Google's processing, see How Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google's privacy policy. You can also manage ad personalisation directly at My Ad Center.

Analytics

The consent banner offers an analytics option covering anonymous, aggregated usage measurement such as which guides are read. No salary data or calculator input is ever included in analytics, and no analytics script is loaded unless you opt in.

International transfers

Where you consent to advertising, Google may process data outside the European Economic Area. Google states that it relies on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and applicable adequacy decisions for those transfers. Declining advertising cookies keeps this to what is technically unavoidable in requesting the ad script, and prevents any profiling.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify processes standard technical request data such as IP address, timestamp, requested URL and user agent, in order to deliver pages, provide security and prevent abuse. This is ordinary infrastructure logging carried out on the basis of legitimate interest, it is not used to build a profile of you, and it is retained only for the short periods set by the host.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. In practice, because the calculator holds your data on your own device rather than on our servers:

If you would like help with any of the above, email irishmoneyclock@gmail.com.

Complaints

If you believe your data protection rights have been infringed you may complain to the Irish supervisory authority, the Data Protection Commission, at dataprotection.ie.

Children

This site is a general-interest tool for people in employment and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

Any material change will be reflected in the "last updated" date above. Where a change affects the basis on which optional cookies are used, you will be asked for consent again.
